Exclusive Deals: the-affair

by FunnyShirtsAdmin on September 28, 2010

I love clothing brands that are inspired by literature — admittedly, I don’t read too much of the stuff myself, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the classiness it brings to a t-shirt.  UK brand the-affair does just that, except it does away entirely with blatant references to themes and characters in the novels, and goes for the abstract/surreal art approach.  The result is a collection of absolutely gorgeous, limited edition tees, presented in a rocking website which lets you view the shirt on a model with an interactive 360 degree view.  Wow! Here’s the lowdown on the brand from Zoltan Csaki, one of the owners, himself: We began the-affair in mid-2007 with one simple premise – to recognise and champion the discerning intellect of men who read literature. We were driven to action by the glut of bland streetwear that seemed to be taking over as blogs like Hypebeast and Highsnobiety really started kicking off around the same time. Although there has been a recent deluge of literature-inspired brands, we can confidently say that we were the first and have been making t-shirts inspired by books for the last 3 years. We are the result of a healthy love of reading mixed with a genetic loathing of mindless pulp references.
